OUR STORY

A TRADITION REBORN
Gwalika isn’t just a brand, it’s a story. A story of resilience, heritage, and the desire to hold on to something real. It all began in Sherpura, a small village in North Gujarat. A place where dreams sometimes feel like they belong to someone else.
But not for Manjula Ben. An educated woman with a quiet determination, she found herself married into a life where opportunities were few and far between. Yet, she never let that dim her spirit. One evening, as the village gathered under the setting sun, Manjula spoke from the heart.
She talked about the old ways of making ghee, not with machines, but with hands, care, and patience. She knew that the traditional Bilona method held not just better taste but a deeper connection to heritage. She also knew that the women around her shared the same wish… To contribute, to feel a sense of purpose.
That night, Gwalika was born.

OUR FOUNDER
Gwalika — (literally "the wife of a Gwala") — is more than a brand; it is a sincere journey from the tiny village of Shevpura in North Gujarat. In Shevpura lived Manjula Ben, an educated lady with dreams. But though educated, marriage brought her to a place where there were few to no opportunities for women. But her spirit was not crushed. She had not only her desire to help her family, but also the potential of all the village women who wanted to help but simply did not know how. One night, what we know today as Gwalika started with Manjula Ben gathering the women in Shevpura. She excitedly explained to them her vision to bring back the traditional art of making ghee, which she wanted to do, not through machine-made means, but in the age-old Rajasthan traditional method, using earthen pots and hand-churning to retain the glorious nutrients and health benefits each has from generations of cooking. Gwalika was born as a community-based women-led initiative, rooted in heritage and driven by purpose. Each jar of Gwalika ghee is a piece of tradition, empowerment, and a taste of rural India.

Our Connection to Pure Food & Wellness
We believe food should be more than just fuel. It should be nourishing, grounding, and true to its roots. Gwalika Ghee is made to honour that belief. It’s not just about taste, it’s about tradition. It’s about knowing where your food comes from and the hands that make it.
At Gwalika, we don’t just make ghee. We make a connection to our land, to our cows, and to the community that makes it all possible.

A Community Effort
The women of Sherpura are dedicated caretakers, not just of the ghee-making process but of the cows themselves. From brushing their coats to making sure they’re well-fed and comfortable, it’s a labor of love. And it’s that love that makes our ghee truly special.
